Class Descriptions

Showtime Spirit offers the classes described below. Please see the Contact Us if you want us to add a class to fit your schedule.

Open Gyms & Studios

Open Gyms & Studios allow the athletes to get more practice time. Instructors will be available for assistance and instruction, but the Open Gyms and Studios will not have the same structure as Classes. Open Gyms and Studios are open to athletes of all levels and do not require a Season Membership.

Cheer Classes

Cheer Technique (All Levels)

This is the class to work on all cheerleading technique, including flexibility, jump technique, and motions. This class will be adjusted to meet the needs of the athletes in attendance.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn cheer technique.

Flyer Technique (All Levels)

This is the class for flyers to get additional air time. This class focuses on All Girl stunts and will be adjusted to meet the needs of the athletes in attendance.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn to fly.

Dance Classes

Intro to Dance (Beginning)

This class is especially designed for students 3-8 years old. This class will introduce dance to students and teach creative movements, balance, and coordination.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn to dance.

Hip Hop (All Levels)

This class teaches street style moves, body control and movements, musicality, coordination, and style. This class is designed to teach moves that incorporate break dancing and commercial dance, as seen on music videos and shows like America’s Best Dance Crew.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn hip hop.

Technique 1/2 (Beginning/Intermediate)

This is an introductory class to dance technique and is designed to teach basic physical movements required to learn jetes, pirouettes, and jumps.  Students will learn jete combinations, pirouettes across the floor, and variations of jumps.  Students will learn and expand their dance terminology.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn dance technique.

Technique 3/4 (Advanced/Elite)

This class is designed to teach new ways to improve on fundamental dance skills.  This class is designed to work on advanced combinations of jetes and pirouettes.  Students will learn a series of switch jetes, triple/quad pirouettes, and fouettes.  Students will incorporate dance technique skills in the style of jazz dance.  Students will expand on their dance terminology.

*Prerequisites: Jetes and Pirouettes.

Tumbling Classes

Level 1 (Beginning)

This is an introductory class to tumbling and is designed to teach tumbling basics, including forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, bridges, front walkovers, and back walkovers.

*Prerequisites: Desire to learn to tumble.

Level 2 (Intermediate)

This class is designed to teach standing back handsprings, round-off back handsprings, round-of back handspring series, front handsprings, and front walkovers to a round-off back handspring.

*Prerequisites: Unassisted bridges, round-offs, forward rolls, backward rolls, and cartwheels.

Level 3 (Intermediate)

This class is designed to teach back handspring series, round-off back handspring back tucks, round-off back tucks, front tucks, and toe touch back handsprings.

*Prerequisites: Standing back handsprings and round-off back handsprings.

Level 4 (Advanced)

This class is designed to teach standing back tucks, standing back handspring back tucks, front pikes, and round-off back handspring layouts.

*Prerequisites: Two back handsprings in a row, toe touch back handsprings, round-off back handspring tucks, round-off tucks, and front tucks.

Level 5 (Advanced)

This class is designed to teach jump and jump combinations to back tucks, round-off back handspring fulls, and combinations of standing back handsprings to a full.

*Prerequisites: Standing back tucks, standing back handspring tucks, and round-off back handspring layouts.

Level 6 (Elite)

This class is designed to teach advanced combination passes as well as double fulls, arabians, whips, front layouts, standing back handsprings to double fulls, and standing fulls.

*Prerequisites: Front tucks, round-off back handspring fulls, and triple toe backs and handspring tucks.

Standing Tuck (Advanced)

This class is designed specifically for those athletes who are attempting to get a back tuck. It will focus on drills and conditioning exercises specific to the standing tuck. There will be no running tumbling in this class.

*Prerequisites: Back handsprings, back handspring series.

School Competition Floor (All Levels)

This class is designed specifically for athletes wanting to tumble on a School Competiton (non-spring) floor.
